Artist Jim Pescott paints with dots as he creates landscapes filled with colour and light. Painting in dots has origins with French pointillist painter Georges-Pierre Seurat (1859 – 1891).
Jim's approach to painting responds to his understanding that everything on this earth is connected: nothing is solitary. Pointillism allows Jim the opportunity to explore this as he paints dots that layer and mingle with no defining lines so a tree crosses over to become the air and the air becomes the tree. In Jim's words, "Painting feels spiritual to me. When I'm painting there's image energy and spirit in everything I see."
Over the last few years Jim has appeared on national television and traveled to Italy to exhibit his work in Florence. UNICEF will use the image of one of Jim's paintings in its 2009 Corporate Collection for greeting cards. Jim has also profiled in Galleries West magazine. Jim lives in Calgary, Alberta.
